Ślizień family
Liubavo k., Rieses seniunija, Vilniaus rajonas, Lietuva

The ancestors of Ślizień family came to Lithuania from Hungary. From the olden times, Ślizień family had a coat of arms “Świat” and a title of counts. In Liubavas Manor, the first from Ślizień family settled Rafal Ślizień (1804-1881) – artist, sculptor. He created a lot of works of fine plastic – medallions, design the parks of small manors and constructed small manors. After marrying Kamilą Tyszkiewiczówna, Rafal had six children. Not unlike others, his son Gustaw often lived in Liubavas Manor. The last of Ślizień, to whom Liubavas Manor belonged, was Rafał I Jan Ślizień (1857-1940) – he took care of the Manor’s mill and established a stud farm.
