History of Nemenčinė town
Nemenčinė, Nemenčinės miesto seniūnija, Vilniaus rajono savivaldybė, Vilnius County, Lithuania
In the written sources, Nemenčinė was mentioned in 1338. In 1387, Grand Duke of Lithuania Jogaila established one of the first churches of Lithuania in Nemenčinė. As early as 16th century, Nemenčinė got city rights. At a certain period, Nemenčinė belonged to Lithuanian bishops, as well as, Vilnius University. First parish school in Nemenčinė was established in 1777.The last owners of Nemenčinė were the representatives of Parczewski family – Jan and Andrzej. During the wars of the 20th century, Nemenčinė was being destroyed and the number of residents diminished in half.
