Mardi Gras is commemorated a day before the start of Lent; it is the most festive calendar holiday. On this day, people try to eat fat food, dough-nuts and pancakes are baked; in the olden days, visiting someone was a must, the further away, the better – this meant that the flax harvest will be good. Dressing up was a must.
