Józef Mackiewicz (1902-1985) – Polish writer and publicist. During the inter-war period lived in Juodšiliai. He was one of the first journalist to write about the tragedy of Katyn. The most important life work of J. Mackiewicz is a novel “No need to speak loud”, which talks about the life in Vilnius region during the German occupation.
