Sudervė environs are known for strawberries growing and jam making traditions. The soil in these environs is fertile, appropriate for growing strawberries. Strawberries of Sudervė were transported and were even sold in St Petersburg. A good strawberry harvest influenced the culinary traditions of locals. From the olden days, strawberry jam is made here; one of the most popular recipes: 1 kg of strawberries and 1 kg of sugar. Wash the strawberries, pour sugar on them and leave for the night. Boil the strawberries and then leave them on weak fire to heat, filter out the foam. Boil for 1.5 hours. Pour in to the prepared jars.
