The Assumption of Mary

The Assumption – the day the Holy Virgin Mary was taken to Heaven is celebrated in Kalveliai from the olden days. The holiday starts with the Mass, during which the priest consecrates flowers, vegetables and fruits, garlands of grain grown in yard and gardens. After the Mass, a concert is held; parish villages prepare feast tables and exhibitions of harvest.
